Septic system maintenance and the pump-out rebate pilot
Montgomery County
Summary
With roughly 20,000 septic systems countywide and far fewer pump-outs happening than recommended, DEP is launching a $100 rebate (up to a third of a typical $300-400 pump-out) as a pilot, with 400 rebates a year and postcard outreach planned.

Impact analysis
Small pilot appropriation now; a bigger budget request could follow if the program proves popular.
Homeowners on septic — especially aging-in-place residents and first-time buyers — get help keeping systems from failing.
